The heritage of Flynn Primary School, Preschool and grounds is being assessed as part of a comparative study by the Australian Institute of Architects, under a grant from the ACT Heritage Unit.
The terms of reference of this study are as follows:
- The Recipient shall consider as a priority, school buildings in the ACT designed by Enrico Taglietti (including Flynn and Giralang Primary School).
- The Recipient shall undertake two comparative assessments:
- One that deals specifically with Taglietti’s schools in the ACT.
- The other is to cover Taglietti’s domestic body of work in the ACT.
The RAIA is to provide an indicative rankina of the places within the body of the architect’s work. Places of exceptional or high indicative value shalI be considered for assessment against the heritage significance criteria.
- The Recipient shall liaise with the Heritage Unit in relation to the selection of places documentation and assessment
- The Recipient is to undertake an assessment of heritage significance for each place against the Criteria at Section 10 of the Heritage Act 2004. Following assessment, where a place is found to have sufficient values against the heritage criteria, a draft Provisional Heritage Register entry shall be prepared. Where a place is found not to meet the heritage criteria, a Statement of Reasons shall be prepared.
- The Recipient shall submit drafis of this work for comment prior to submission with the Final Report.
- If there is certain criteria of the citation that cannot addressed in-house, a consultant/professional will need to be contracted in order to complete the citation properly.
- The Recipient shall provide three electronic copies of the draft Heritage Register entry and/or Statement of Reasons, and data developed during this Project.
- That all work recommended or undertaken is consistent with the Australia ICOMOS Burra Charter and complies with best practice in heritage conservation.
- The Recipient shall include the ACT Government logo in conjunction with the words This project was assisted through funding made available by the ACT Government under the ACT Heritage Grants Program on all project material (hard copy or electronic) created as a result of this project.
- Acknowledgement of funding is also to be made in formal speeches, media releases or at project launches.
- The Recipient shall liaise with the Heritage Unit With regard to the promotion/publicity and/or presentation/launch of the final product.
