Purdon report released today

The future of Flynn Primary school building and grounds would be under threat if the recommendations of the Purdon report were implemented.

Strong community support for keeping the site intact and using it as a school or a community centre was reported, but otherwise ignored.

The report recommends demolishing the buildings and subdividing the site into three blocks as follows:

  • the preschool block stays intact
  • an adjacent area should have a stand-alone hall constructed
  • the remaining area (most of the site) would be used for courtyard housing.

According to the report, this would reap $5.5 million from land sales.

The full report is available from the DHCS website at: New uses for former school sites
