The ACT Heritage Unit advised the John Flynn Community Group in a letter written on 28 June (4 days later). The Flynn P&C has not been formally notified.

Shock announcement undermines Flynn community and threatens heritage

The ACT Government’s announcement to relocate two existing childcare centres to the Flynn Primary School ignores the viable solution proposed by the Flynn community; breaches promises made by government; and will not in itself create a significant number of new childcare places. The group is also concerned that the extent of structural changes need for such a large centre of 110 places in total will damage the heritage value of the building.

Flynn welcomes opportunity to plan community hub

The John Flynn Community Group hopes to work with the ACT Government to develop a masterplan for a childcare centre and sustainable community hub at Flynn following a positive meeting with Disability Housing and Community Services Minister, Joy Burch, last week.
