Happy ending to Flynn saga

Today’s (Saturday 11 August) re-dedication of the John Flynn memorial brings a happy ending to the saga of the vanishing plaque and vandalised national memorial.

Senator Gary Humphries will help re-dedicate and unveil the restored memorial with help of the Flynn community, guests and messages from the Royal Flying Doctor’s Service, Presbyterian Church, Uniting Church and residents who helped establish the memorial in 1980.

The NCA recently retrieved the damaged plaque from the ACT Government, had it and the memorial wall restored and repainted in close consultation with the Flynn community. All ACT MLAs have been invited.

The ceremony starts at 12.30pm in Bingle St, Flynn and will be followed by a sausage sizzle.
